Sizzlin’ Island Style: My Very Necessary Pepper Pork Recipe
There’s something magical about taking everyday ingredients and turning them into something that makes your taste buds dance. That’s exactly what happened when I whipped up this Pepper Pork stir fry using my favorite pantry staples and, of course, a healthy dose of Very Necessary Island Spiced Oil and Jerk Seasoning Rub
. It was bold, spicy, savory, and so good I had to run it back the next day!
Let me tell you—this recipe was born on one of those evenings when I was craving something comforting, but with a serious kick. I had boneless pork chops on hand, and that was all the inspiration I needed. I wanted something fast, flavorful, and something that brought the taste of the islands to my plate… and that’s exactly what I got.
The Magic is in the Marinade
I started by slicing the pork chops and massaging them with a quick marinade: a drizzle of Island Spiced Oil, a teaspoon of our Very Necessary Original Jerk Rub, a pinch of baking soda, and a bit of cornstarch. This combo doesn’t just flavor the meat—it tenderizes it and gives it that juicy texture you want in a stir-fry.
If you’re craving bold Caribbean flavors with a sizzling stir-fry twist, this Pepper Pork is your next go-to dish. Made with tender boneless pork chops, our signature Very Necessary Island Spiced Oil, and a rich, savory sauce, it’s the perfect fusion of Jamaican heat and Asian technique. Quick, easy, and full of flavor—it’s a weeknight win!
Ingredients
For the Pork:
• 1 lb boneless pork chops, sliced thin
• 1 tbsp Very Necessary Island Spiced Oil
• 1 tsp Very Necessary Jamaican Jerk Rub – Original
• ½ tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp cornstarch
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 medium onion, chopped
• 1 red bell pepper, sliced
• 1 green bell pepper, sliced
For the Sauce:
• 2 tbsp soy sauce
• 1 tbsp Very Necessary Island Spiced Oil
• 1 tbsp noodle sauce (or oyster sauce)
• 1 tbsp cooking rice wine
• ½ tsp sesame oil
• 1 tbsp brown sugar
• ½ cup water
Instructions
1. Prep the Pork:
In a bowl, mix sliced pork with jerk rub, baking soda, cornstarch, and island-spiced oil. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
2. Make the Sauce:
In a small bowl or jar, whisk together soy sauce, noodle or oyster sauce, cooking wine, sesame oil, brown sugar, and water. Set aside.
3. Stir-Fry the Pork:
Heat a pan or wok on high. Add a splash of Island Spiced Oil, then stir-fry garlic and ginger until fragrant. Add the marinated pork and cook until browned.
4. Add Onions:
Toss in the chopped onions and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until they soften slightly.
5. Sauce It Up:
Pour in the sauce mixture and continue stir-frying on high heat. Let it bubble and reduce until thickened and glossy.
6. Finish with Peppers:
Add the red and green bell peppers. Stir everything together until the peppers are slightly tender but still crunchy.
7. Serve Hot:
Plate your pepper pork over steamed jasmine rice, noodles, or enjoy it straight from the pan!
